Lawson Products Reports Third Quarter 2014 Results
Sales Increase of 8.6% Drives Improved Performance

Net sales and average daily sales increased 8.6% over the third
quarter of 2013 to
$74.1 million . Average daily sales also increased 2.8% over the second quarter of 2014. -
Adjusted operating income improved by 25.0% to
$2.2 million in the third quarter of 2014 from$1.7 million a year ago (See reconciliation in Table 1). -
During 2014, the Company paid down
$16.1 million on its outstanding bank loan and was debt free onSeptember 30, 2014 .

value of recent infrastructure investments,” said

Net sales for the third quarter of 2014 were
Gross profit percentage for the period was 60.1% compared to 60.4% in the third quarter of 2013. This modest decline was primarily due to lower net freight recoveries and an increase in lower margin strategic accounts.
Selling expenses increased as a percent of sales to 31.8% in the third
quarter of 2014 compared to 31.2% in the third quarter of 2013. This
increase primarily reflects the initial fixed expense associated with
the expansion of the sales force. General and administrative expenses
increased 6.5% to

The Company reports its financial results in accordance with U.S.
generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). However, the Company's
management believes that certain non-GAAP financial measures may provide
users of this financial information additional meaningful comparisons
between current results and results in prior operating periods.
Management believes that these non-GAAP financial measures can provide
additional meaningful reflection of underlying trends of the business
because they provide a comparison of historical information that
excludes certain infrequently occurring, seasonal or non-operational
items that impact the overall comparability. See Table 1 below for
supplemental financial data and corresponding reconciliations to GAAP
financial measures for the three months ended
